Introduction: Welcome

About Me

My name is Sage Toth and I am a senior at William Allen High School. Participating in the Emerging Health Professionals program has been life changing and the best part of my entire high school career. Throughout the year, Emerging Health Professionals program has given me the opportunity to become certified to perform CPR, stop the bleed certified, OSHA certified, and to finally begin collecting shadowing hours for college. I have also decided what medical profession that I will continue to study in college, all thanks to EHP. When I first started this program I was curious and determined to explore all of the shadowing options EHP provided. I explored so many fields and have observed many procedures and even a couple surgeries! Today, I feel more motivated than ever to constantly ask questions when shadowing and to take these opportunities. I am attending King's College in Wilkes Barre and I will be studying Physician Assistant studies. My short term goals are to study hard in college and to graduate King's College as a Physician Assistant. Another short term goal is to get a job right after college and work in a city environment in a hospital. Besides work goals, a personal goal of mine is to travel! A long term goal of mine is to continue working as a PA in the city environment. I would also like to continue traveling and begin a family. I don't know if I would like to work in the hospital when I have children. I think after I start my family I will work in an family medicine outpatient unit. After graduation I have to work hard and continue learning to achieve my future goals. After i achieve my goals and after graduation, I plan on giving back to the community by volunteering in my city or town. I really enjoy caring for the environment so I can give back to the community by helping picking up litter and trash in my community and promoting clean ups. Strengths of mine throughout the year consist of my motivation to succeed, my interest to continue learning, and my time management skills. I am human, so I do have weaknesses, I should have put more time to study and ask questions during the anatomy college class. I think studying more would have raised my scores and would help me understand the content more. Another weakness would be doing my school work more at night due to my work schedule. I think that if I put school over work, I would have studied more and I would have earned higher test scores.  I have encounter multiple situations that created a turning point in my future decisions. After shadowing different professionals throughout the year such as nurses, physicians, surgeons, and physician assistants, I really enjoyed shadowing the physician assistants. Whenever I shadowed them they were always so nice to me and gave me such great advice. I enjoyed observing them work and creating those patient relationships.
